As many therapists are trying to sort out the best and safest way to resume in-person client sessions, a great and sensible solution is to move sessions outdoors.
The newly emerging field of ecopsychology offers some wonderful guidance and considerations for outdoor based therapy.

In this online workshop, Holos Director. Jan Edl Stein, MFT, will offer a model for moving clinical sessions outdoors.
Holos has been a pioneer in ecotherapy and is deeply committed to an ecopsychological perspective which takes into consideration how we are all shaped by our environment of origin as well as how we relate to our immediate ecosystem.  One outcome of this perspective is an eco-therapy application and more simply, taking the clinical container outdoors.

Holos has been offering training in ecopsychology since 1990 and has developed specific ecotherapy applications since then.

While moving a client session to the outdoors is not necessarily switching to ecotherapy, there are many overlaps and considerations.
In this webinar, Jan will outline pragmatic, ethical and legal issues, and clinical considerations as you may choose to work with clients outdoors.
We will cover logistical considerations, clinical considerations/concerns as well as some eco-therapy interventions that can enhance the session experience.

We will cover issues such as,…
*  How to assess appropriateness for outdoor sessions for particular clients
*  How to prepare your client for the session
*  Choosing the right place to work/meet
*  What releases/paperwork is best to use
*  How to handle interruptions/confidentiality breaches
*  How to structure a session for optimum outcome
*  Introducing some interventions from an eco-therapy  perspective
*  Keeping the clinical container contained
*  How to assess for clinical appropriateness for outdoor sessions

You will be offered a clear outline for moving your practice outdoors with handouts that include a check-list of considerations and important release forms.
There will be time for Q&A so that you may get your individual and particular situations addressed as best as possible.

As with all Holos programs, class size is limited to allow for the optimal  interaction and engagement.

This class also offers  2.5 CEUs for LCSWs, MFTs, LPCCs and other CA BBSE licenses.
Licensed therapists will be able to answer (at least) the following questions upon completion:
– List the recommended paperwork and legal considerations for moving a clinical session outdoors
– Name at least 3 clinical considerations that should be taken into account BEFORE moving a session outdoors
– Describe 2 ecotherapy interventions that may be integrated into an outdoor session
– Describe a skillful way to frame outdoor work to a client.
– List at least 2 clinical problems that might arise during an outdoor session and how to best address these.
