Public Programs Assistant
Sarah Scheld assists public programs and events at Holos Institute in the San Francisco Bay Area.
In addition to supporting Holos, Sarah is a somatic counselor whose work weaves together ecotherapy, body-centered awareness practices, and earth-based ritual. She specializes in supporting individuals facing challenges around embodiment and seeking freedom from internalized oppression, particularly adult survivors of trauma. She also supports those who are seeking to integrate insights and openings from expanded states of consciousness to help them make concrete positive changes in their lives.
As a graduate of the California Institute of Integral Studies (East-West Psychology, MA), her continued research and practice, informed by the lenses of ecopsychology and liberation psychology, focus on the intersection of Western psychotherapy and entheogenic shamanism and on safe and skillful approaches to psychedelic-assisted healing.
Sarah is a practitioner and ongoing student of the Hakomi method (a form of experiential, mindfulness-based somatic therapy) and is currently training in Somatic Experiencing. She is pursuing licensure as an MFT to deepen her study of trauma work and to continue to investigate how transformative somatic practice can help heal both individuals and social structures.
She is grateful to be engaged in permaculture, gardening, and deep nature connection at the Regenerative Design Institute, where her study of ecological systems and animal behavior continue to inform her understanding of human biological responses and her belief in community resilience.
